Spring is emerging all around us, and with it, our minds turn toward new possibilities - expansion and new life. Much of the new life springing up around us is from seeds that were previously planted. Just like we can plant seeds in the earth and nourish them into plants, we can plant seeds of intention in our hearts and minds.
Get in a comfortable position and take deep breaths: notice your breath and bring yourself back to your breathing when your mind wanders.
Keeping your breath, let’s take some time to connect with the sensations of resting on the earth - tuning to those parts of your body that meet the surface beneath you and use those contact points which anchor you to the here and now - in this moment, in this space.
Once you feel well rooted, allow your awareness to move up through your body and move up to a place where you feel your breath - belly, lungs, chest, nostrils - feel the breath enter your body and leave your body - mind the natural ebb and flow of your breath.
As you breathe, see if you can sense the energies of new life and nourishment and expansion that each breath carries with it. Sensing the freshness of each breath will help you sense the qualities embodied in this season of spring.
As you breathe, notice what words arise in your awareness with this question: What seeds of intention do I wish to plant and nurture this spring?
Notice what comes to you with curiosity. You might notice words floating around such as compassion, self-compassion, patience, expansion, grace, gratitude, or creativity.
Ask yourself again: What seeds of intention do I wish to plant and nurture this spring?
Are there 1, 2, or 3 words that feel most prominent for you in this moment?
Can you turn the words into intention statements?
I intend to nurture the seed of contentment.
I intend to nurture the seed of presence.
I intend to nurture the seed of appreciation.
Spend a few moments setting one, two, or even three intentions.
If you would like to, raise a palm to your heart and feel into these intentions for a few more breaths. When you are ready, focus on the connection points to the earth beneath us. Take one more clearing breath and open your eyes to the forest when you are ready.
