Find a comfortable space in which to meditate, then gently close your eyes. Take a deep breath in. As you breathe out, allow yourself to arrive fully in this moment. And so, you’ve begun by focusing on your breath.
With each breath, feel yourself becoming more and more grounded, but also more flexible. Consider the recent rain and how rain brings transformation. Change is part of becoming.
Bring your focus and attention now to your body: starting at the top of your head . . . Let your forehead smooth out and your eyes soften. Relax your jaw and your neck. Feel the relaxation flowing down your shoulders to your arms and hands.
Let your chest and stomach soften with each and every breath. Release any tension in your back, hips, legs, and feet. Feel your entire body relax.
Now visualize a gentle rain shower. Imagine the rain falling at The Lorraine Cherry Nature Preserve. Imagine each drop filtering through the leaves and then gently touching the earth bringing nourishment.
Each raindrop represents a small change and each small change is contributing to a greater transformation.
Consider the changes in your own life: Some changes are small but they add together to shape your life.
Imagine that you are present for the gentle rainstorm and that the drops feel warm and refreshing to your skin.
Allow it to wash over you. Like change, the rain is cleansing. It is leaving space for new possibilities.
Image that the sound of raindrops is a symphony . . . each note bringing harmony and rhythm to your life.
Listen to the rain's music and think about how change has its own rhythm in your life. Sometimes it's a gentle patter and other times a vigorous downpour.
Changes, like the rain, are vital to our growth. They are nurturing and refreshing. With each breath, feel yourself becoming more adaptable, more resilient.
Just as the earth absorbs the rain, allowing it to nourish and support new life, let your heart and mind absorb the lessons and the opportunities that change brings.
Slowly begin to bring your focus and awareness back to the present and back into your physical body. Feel the surface beneath you, the air on your skin, wiggle your fingers and toes and stretch out. Take a slow, deep, refreshing breath in and out. And when you're ready, gently open your eyes.
Take a walk in the nature preserve, looking for signs of change and transformation created by recent rains.
